Bassett High School Science Department

Our everyday lives are touched by science in so many ways. The products we buy in the local markets have been grown on farms that depend on science for hybrid seeds, advanced fertilizers and pesticides. The science of genetics has developed leaner and healthier meats from animals that grow faster and give off less waste. The products are sold using a bar code that gives prices, inventory, and vendor all from a sticker unheard of 15 years ago. Our hospitals are staffed by the finest doctors, nurses, and technicians in the world, all using equipment and methods developed by American scientists. We are all linked together by a small little device we carry in our pocket and think we could not live without.

Science helps us understand why and wonder what if.  Science has shone us why we like to sit around a fire and look at the stars. BHS science classes can show you why the fire burns and help you chart your path to the stars.
